Making Money Mondays - Paying off Debt

ways to earn

We had the privilege of listening to some great speakers at the Family Economics Conference this past weekend!  One of the workshops we attended was on household budgeting, by The Thrifty Couple.  They gave some great advice on paying off debt!

Basically, in a nutshell, they cut back 2% of there expenses, whatever that might be, each month, and put that money on debt.  They then added 2% of additional income by earning extra money.  Once they did this, they cut back 2% more and put it on debt.  Great idea, huh?  Sometimes, when we think of paying off debt, we can feel overwhelmed and do not know how to start, especially if you are living paycheck to paycheck.  This plan makes it more attainable and gives more direction.

So, what did they suggest on how to make money?  On their blog, The Thrifty Couple, they give you 100 ways to earn extra income.  These are simple ideas, but something is better than nothing, right?  You can go here to find out, The Thrifty Couple, www.thriftycouple.com.  I highly recommend this website!  They have so many money saving ideas, money making ideas, coupons and sales.  Take a look for yourself and learn some great tips!

Don't forget to join me next week with how-to videos with my children and I on soil testing, double digging and soil block making!

  2. Popped over from the Barn Hop. Am very happy for your new found info my comment would be to hang in there and celebrate your victories. Know it can get frustrating. After taking the Dave Ramsey financial peace course almost 2 years ago now, my husband really got on board with my long time attempts to keep us on budget. The course was great for making me REALLY get a strong budget to stick to. Our efforts will be rewarded when next month we will have all but the mortgage paid off, and using a calculator for that with the extra now going to this and savings we will be completely out of debt in less than 5 years, plus have a nice little nest egg. Just want to send encouragement your way. There is light at the end of the tunnel!!
