The first day of spring is here. Too bad it is still freezing outside. Yesterday was in the 20's with wind that made if feel even colder. I'm pretty sure today is supposed to be the same. You'd think we were in zone 3 or 4 the way our weather has been.
I am thinking positive though. Last year early in March, we had 70 degree weather. As a result, everything bloomed early and then, of course, we had a few hard freezes and lost our apples and pears.
Even so, by this time every year, I have my plants started and some cold weather tolerant veggies growing in the garden. Not this year. Cold tolerant does not mean a continuous freeze would not affect them. It's too cold to start my soil blocks. Dealing with wet soil to make the blocks would not be too fun in this frigid weather.
Patience. So what am I doing? I am getting into shape and juicing so that when spring hits for real, I will not be dying out there from being out of shape!
It will be here soon, the warmer weather, the tiny blooms on the trees, the birds excitedly chirping and almost permanent dirt stains on my fingers. Soon, Susie, soon.
